Spitbank Fort is already regarded as one of the world’s most secluded private islands in the UK and is the ideal overnight escapade. One of a series of land- and sea- based forts built by Lord Palmerston to repel a perceived French Invasion, Spitbank Fort, the fort stands in the Solent boasting spectacular panoramic views across the waters to the Isle of Wight on one side and mainland UK on the other.
On arrival, guests are greeted with a chilled glass of champagne and then taken on a historic tour showcasing the best of British military architecture and carefully restored original artefacts. Guests are then invited to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch in the Crow’s Nest followed by a relaxing afternoon in the rooftop hot pool and sauna. This is followed by an indulgent afternoon tea with sumptuous homemade cake served in the Victoria Bar.
For those feeling active, the afternoon can be whiled away by flying kites or fishing before an aperitif and a gourmet five course dinner in the Officer’s Mess. To complete the evening, enjoy hot chocolate around the rooftop fire pit and gaze at the stars and seek out your favourite constellation.
